Christine Kidd

MSN, RNC-MNN

Christine Kidd, MSN, RNC-MNN has been a registered nurse for 25 years and has worked with postpartum mothers and babies since 2001 at a metro Atlanta community hospital, where she has served as a bedside nurse, education coordinator and perinatal bereavement coordinator.

Christine is passionate about caring for birthing families and has worked to improve maternal and infant health outcomes for most of her nursing career. She is excited about being able to channel her expertise into helping ensure that fellow nurses stay updated with the latest developments in providing respectful, equitable care, and centering the voice of those in her care leveraging shared decision making.

Christine earned a Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) from Walden University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) from Georgia State University.

Michelle Pratt

DNP, RNC-MNN, C-OQNSS

Michelle Pratt is a registered nurse certified in maternal-newborn nursing and obstetric & neonatal quality and safety. Inspired by her passion for reproductive justice and health equity, Michelle came to nursing after completing her graduate degree in anthropology. She has spent her nursing career working with birthing people and their families in various clinical nursing and nurse leadership roles across all areas of perinatal care.

Dr. Pratt’s areas of expertise are equity-focused quality improvement and program implementation and data-driven analysis and decision-making for nurse leaders. She spearheaded the creation of a perinatal disparities dashboard and led a successful year-long initiative to decrease racial inequities in both breastfeeding goal attainment and human donor milk use in the hospital. She successfully increased the diversity of lactation consultants by 40%, She has co-led development of equity-driven initiatives including a hospital-based perinatal equity council, a maternity patient-family advisor program, and a labor support volunteer program for pre-professional students. Michelle provides individual consultation for nurse leaders seeking data-informed strategies to enhance patient experience and outcomes, as well as unit workflow, staffing, productivity and charge capture. She also prepares executive summaries/SBARs and graphic data presentations to help nurse leaders better advocate for resources and support from hospital administrators.

Dr. Pratt has training in Lean, A3, IHI Model for Improvement, and Design Thinking methodologies. She attended the Emory Healthcare Quality Academy and completed The Ohio State University Fuld National Institute for Evidence-Based Practice virtual program. The focus of her doctoral project at Capella University was standardizing nursing care to reduce NTSV cesarean rate.

Michelle has presented locally, regionally and nationally on the team’s work to implement a perinatal disparity dashboard, and the ongoing equity-focused QI work they do. She is honored to have been a 2021 finalist for the March of Dimes Heroes in Action Clinical Innovation award for her work to reduce perinatal disparities at her hospital.

Nancy Travis

MS, BSN, RN, BC-PED, CPN, CBC, C-ONQS, FAWHONN

Nancy Travis works as a Nurse Coach for the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative. She has over 40 years of maternal child nursing leadership experience in high and low-risk environments. Nancy is certified in Pediatrics, Breastfeeding Counselor, and Obstetric Neonatal Quality and Safety. She was inducted in the inaugural group of AWHONN Fellows. She has received recognition as a Mother Friendly Nurse from the Coalition for Improving Maternity Services and a Golden Baby Shoe from Healthy Start of SW Florida.

Nancy has worked extensively with nursing staff in developing and implementing evidence-based practices. She has presented at various organizations on Family Centered Care in obstetrics at the local, state, and national level.

Nancy holds a graduate degree in Health Care Administration from Independence University and a BSN from University of Texas at Arlington. Nancy has been a member of the Association Women’s Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses for 25 years and is the immediate past AWHONN Florida Section Chair. She serves as the AWHONN Florida representative to the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative Nancy is the co-lead for Florida for the AWHONN Alliance for Innovation in Maternal Health (AIM) Nurse Leaders and Legislative Coordinator. She is currently serving as the AWHONN Public Policy Committee chairperson and the AWHONN Fellows Committee chairperson for 2024.
